The Devil's Pocket Trilogy
Evil chants festered into a full chorus of unified desire and dark communion deep within Devil's Pocket. Thirteen hooded figures circled an altar of glowing embers. The intense eyes of the oldest witch twinkled. She held moss and fish eggs up high in her dry, quivering hands. She screeched out," Shamal laasha Leviathan. Death to the Knee people!" The other witches wheezed with passion as she flung the sacrifice onto red hot coals. The greedy flames devoured the offering as wicked arms reached upward in celebration, casting distorted shadows. The old witch proclaimed, "The spell has been cast, evil sent forth!" Slowly, deliberately, she stretched her leathery arm against the darkening sky. As a chilling wind blew across the swamp, the creatures of the night knew the witches' magic had not lost its power …
