You never stop learning as a writer.
Along the way you will pick up tips
and techniques from other writers and
reference material. The following are some of
the tips I have learned.

  Point of View

Point of View problems? One way to fix a weak POV is to rewrite the scene in first person through
the eyes of your protagonist. Think about your protagonist telling the story in his own words.
He can only share what he knows, not what someone else including the author knows.
Once done, rewrite the same scene in third person exchanging "I" for "he" or
"mine" for "his" etc. This will deepen the POV. This will help your reader
to identify with the protagonist. Sometimes a narrator's voice is used along with
the protagonist POV. This can work in a limited role, but be careful of author
interpretation or intrusion.
